Shaun White is known for being one of the world’s best snowboarders alive. It is hard to think about the sport, and not associate it with the red headed star. Well, we just got news that Shaun White is withdrawing from Slopestyle event in Sochi because he wants to mainly focus on bringing home gold a third time for the half pipe event. Well, we can understand his determination, but it would have been really cool to see him nab gold in multiple events.

His reasoning is very sound. He did a few test runs on the slope style course, and thinks it has a high probability for sustaining an injury, which would completely ruin his chances of any gold in any other event. He feels bad about it, but met with course officials and has decided that it is the best route for him to go to not do the slope style. The reality is, he would have had to compete in slope style before half pipe, and after his last half pipe performance at the last Winter Olympics, he just didn’t think that was worth the risk.

Honestly, we can’t say we blame him.
