Summer Yasmine Bishil was born on the 17th of July, 1988, in Pasadena, California. The youngest child of the family, Bishil is the third-born child to her Mexican mother and Indian father. In 1991, when Bishil was just three years old, she moved to Saudi Arabia and then to Bahrain, alongside her parents and brother. However, the 9/11 terrorist attack on the US put an end to Bishil’s stay, and her family moved to the States. However, the States after 9/11 was not what it used to be. Right through her early years, Bishil struggled to adapt to her school and society. Her family moved to a Mormon community in San Diego and Bishil was enrolled at a public school, where she was less than welcome.

After a few short roles in TV series including, Hannah Montanna, Drake & Josh, and Just for Kicks, Bishil landed her first film role, the 2007 movie Towelhead. She bagged an award in the Young Hollywood Awards 2008 for the Ones to Watch category for her role in the movie. Since then, Bishil has put her masterful acting to work on various movies including Crossing Over (2009), Mooz-Ium (2010), Public Relations (2010), The Last Airbender (2010), Pop Star (2013), and most recently on the 2018 movie, Under the Silver Lake.
